Samling Born by Natasha Duncan-Drake
By Natasha Duncan-Drake
This is a cute little story about shape shifters and making family when and where you can. Of over coming out most darkest fears and finding out our friends can still be our friends even when those secrets we hold fast to come home to disrupt our lives.
Luka is a Samling, a were-wolf born, but he chooses not to join his pack when he turned 13, but to go out on his own. It has been hard, but he has found two friends to share his secret with for those times he can’t fight the pull of the moon. Now they have three more friends that make up the band Race Memory.
Luka has been on edge all day, and Travis is not helping matters any, all he wants is go up to his attic room and sit on the roof balcony to calm down and fight the pull of the coming full moon. They decide they have enough money to get a full meal from their favorite take out place and Ben, their unspoken leader, went out to pick it up that was when Luka escaped upstairs. He dropped into a meditative state until he smelled a stranger werewolf entering his territory, threatening his family. He tore downstairs to find the intruder. It was Ben… some rouge had bitten him while he was out.
Luka had to help Ben through the transformation as it came; they needed to fight out the alpha position, while Luka wanted to give in to Ben’s natural alpha, but a darkness from his past wouldn’t let Luka just give in. He fought for survival.
This is a story of friendship, and family. I loved it. Though there were a few questions left at the end… it was a good 5 star read. A must pick up for anyone that likes Ms. Duncan-Drake’s writing. Please, tell me there are more to the Samling series? Thank you for sharing this with us.
