The Machine Parts 1 & 2 by Natasha Duncan-Drake

The Machine Part 1 and 2

Natasha Duncan-Drake

In this two part short story, Louis (pronounced the French way) Hayes is a superstar skater on the world stage. He and Rafe used to be friends, then they were enemies, then Rafe took a fall, and now he is a sports reporter. They are at a special competition with Russia, China and the USA, a new trade agreement promoting between the three countries promoting the competition.

Louis is confronted by a Dr. Trabener and she activated a code, which flipped a switch in Louis’ brain. He goes very unemotional in front of Rafe and takes Rafe hostage to get away; talking about The Machine being activated and The Source was not dead so she was not in charge. They also kidnap Veronov Matvei from Russia the next day.

With out knowing what he did, Rafe was able to break the conditioning and in the next book Louis was able to take down the Machine and the Source, Dr. Barrington.

A very fun little book, as long as you are not looking for answers… like why did Dr. Trabener activate Louis in the first place, was part of a condition put on her? I mean right then and right there in the middle of a very high profile competition instead of in a controlled environment some other time?

For entertainment value I give this a 4 star review, but it does leave us with some questions.

About lyssareviews

I am a single, pagan female who loves the written word. I am doing reviews on books to feed my reading habit. I will post those reviews here. I also love movies, TV shows, and laughing with my friends. I love to cochet, and am starting to spin my own yarn. Boy, do I think there very fun stories in that! So they might show up here. Also I have two cats and a small dog. Valkyrie, Miss Dottie and Sir Luck the Pup.... their stories may also sneak in here from time to time, to stay tuned.
