Sleep of the Damned
By Natasha Duncan-Drake
Jessica is avid collector of antiques, she loves house foreclosure sales and estate sales; Will always goes with her to be her muscle, he is her best friend turned brother when her single mom married his single dad after meeting through them.
Jessica finds this beautiful old wrought iron bed that she falls in love with and brings home, ordering a new memory form mattress to go with it. Will helps her bring in her loft and set it up. His boyfriend is out of the country so he stays over with her, witnessing her nightmare and her falling out of bed.
The same thing happens the next night, and the next… but now she is seeing a corps like female around the bed also. The next night Will stays and almost gets killed in the bed. They talk to one of their friends from their university days a white witch, and he agrees to help. By now they have found out that the bed was owned during the French revaluation by a rapist and murder.
A delightful short tale of horror and strong wills to overcome that horror; I loved this book, rating it with a five stars. You must pick this up if you like short horrors. Ms. Duncan-Drake out did herself on this one.
